Palermo

The world-renowned German artist Palermo already passed away in 1977 at the age of 34. In recent years, his revolutionary work has attracted ever-growing worldwide attention. It has been exhibited in various places such as Münster, St. Gallen, Washington, Los Angeles and a retrospective was presented at the Dia Art Foundation in New York.

His name is closely linked to Mönchengladbach. Through Johannes Cladders´ mediation, Palermo moved to Mönchengladbach in 1969 and worked in an atelier community with Ulrich Rückriem.

In 1973, the Museum Abteiberg exhibited a selection of his objects for the first time and published a catalogue.

The comprehension with which the Galerie Löhrl presented his print graphics and multiples could only be achieved by New York in 2007. They have the characteristics of an oeuvre catalogue, which encompasses the contentual sum of its works, and form a closed group that can stand alone or in place of the complete works.
