Terry Fox
American conceptual and fluxus artist Terry Fox has played a decisive role in the development of these art movements of the 1960s.
More than 120 performances - the first of which took place in Germany in 1970 at the invitation and with the assistance of Joseph Beuys - and numerous museum exhibitions have made him internationally known, especially in museum and artistic circles.
Since 1983, we have exhibited works by TERRY FOX in several exhibitions in our gallery and at fairs and have held several of his sound performances (the first one in 1983). This American sound and text poet was one of the silent stars of the international art scene. However, he has always made history, be it with his very early collaboration with Joseph Beuys, his entirely new installations (such as his playing on strained piano strings) or his influence on Fluxus and Body Art.
In numerous museums around the world (beginning as early as 1970 in the Museum of Conceptual Art, San Francisco and 1971 in the Museum of Modern Art, New York) his work could be seen in solo and group exhibitions. He was represented three times at documenta in Kassel.
The last museum tour - with numerous loans of our gallery - was from 2015 to 2017 in the Academy of Arts Berlin, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Mons, Belgium, the Von der Heydt Museum Wuppertal and the Kunstmuseum Bern.
Terry Fox passed away in October 2008 in Cologne. To mark the 10th anniversary of TERRY FOXs death, we currently show a small exhibition of original works (drawings, collages, objects), photos, texts and catalogs by the artist in our rooms at Kaiserstraße 58 until 1 March 2019.
