Amador
In his artistic work, sculptor and painter Amador focuses on the human figure. His paintings are full of wraithlike shapes, reduced to their basic forms and seeming like shadows. In his mouldings of people, any physical articulation is taken back; biding and multiplying themselves, the silhouettes appear as full figures or torsos.
However, none of the shadows is like the other, the contours are smooth or unsettled, frontal or in profile. Some are mere silhouettes, others are filled with a maze of winding lines like nerve cords. With every little modification of the composition, the figures gain a bit of exceptionality, each of them has its own life. Nothing personal is revealed though. In image sections structured by lines and colour crosshatching, the figures appear in groups without any discernible joint connections.
In his paintings, the artist creates an imaginary portrait gallery, which does not show definable groups but just humans in general. Amador´s works are about the human that leaves behind the subjective and individual and becomes an object of projection to those who observe it.
Since 1978, the eclectic work of Amador, who was born in Pollença, Mallorca in 1957, has been presented in various international solo exhibitions in galleries, art associations, museum and the world´s most significant art fairs.
